If you have never experienced any setbacks since pursuing your fitness ventures, then hats off to you! Personally, throughout my many years of lifting weights and prioritizing my health, I have hit many bumps in the road. We are all human beings, and it is completely normal for you to go through these setbacks as long as you learn how to bounce back from them. I wrote this blog hoping some of you can relate to these challenges and hopefully I can help you overcome them.
You’ve heard me stress consistency before and it won’t be the last time I do it either. I’ve struggled with this one for many years. Every single day is a busy one for the majority of you, that’s why each and every day you need to make a schedule and prioritize exactly when and where you are going to exercise. If you don’t have a plan, your chances of making an excuse not to go greatly increases.
2. Gym ADD
- Since I was fifteen I was always looking for the most efficient exercise program, I’d start for about 1-2 weeks and then I would switch to something else that I found more intriguing. If you’re doing this STOP RIGHT NOW, you’re only holding yourself back, find a program that fits your needs and stick to it until the end. Having an online coach or personal trainer can be very beneficial if you tend to have Gym ADD; they will build a program around your needs and hold you accountable day by day to make sure you are doing the workout efficiently and correctly.
This is a make-or-break issue, people. I see some people get injured and their motivation and drive dwindles away. I also see people who use their injuries to learn more about themselves and improve their overall knowledge on exercising and injury prevention. I used to be one of those people who would sulk if I were injured and completely fall off-track. Now I have started to utilize injuries to learn more about injury prevention/rehab work, and I can focus on what I can do instead of can’t, like work on other weaknesses that need attending. If you get injured, I highly recommend you see a professional too help you build a program to get better and strengthen other weaknesses.
